Boardwalk, El Malecón

El Malecón starts at Hotel Rosita –known as the very first hotel in town, built in 1948–, and runs almost two kilometers along the beach on main Downtown Street, down to Lázaro Cardenas Park. Along the stretch of El Malecón you can admire the world famous public sculpture collection created mostly by local artists, enjoy spectacular sunsets and the beach view over Banderas Bay.

Old Vallarta

Old Vallarta with its signature cobblestone streets add colonial charm, red tile roof houses enhanced with bright colored bougainvillea covered balconies. Ideal place for anyone who likes enjoying the charm of flea markets, sidewalk cafes, hotels, restaurants and clubs for everyone’s’ preference, taste and budget.

Pirate-Ship Tour

Flea Market

A traditional tourist destination venue, opened for almost three decades. This market rests on the north side of Cuale River right at Puerto Vallarta historical Downtown. This market has a wider variety of handcrafts, typical clothing and jewelry stores.

Los Muertos Pier

Los Muertos Beach has been a landmark of the city for decades. The newly opened Los Muertos Pier is located right at the heart of the Romantic Zone and was designed by Mexican architect Jesús Torres Vega and features 665 meters walkway, with ample pedestrian friendly zone, waterfront promenade, fantastic roundabout, and a landing dock, provided with multi colored scenic lights adding to the pier’s ambiance for everyone’s enjoyment.

Las Animas Beach

A picturesque golden beach surrounded by majestic mountains; where rocky promontories and white sand meet the light blue Pacific waters; due to its calm waves, swimming, diving and snorkeling are common or just enjoy typical Mexican dishes available at the shore side restaurants.

Free Sightseeing Tours

Discover Historic Downtown Puerto Vallarta through a free sightseeing tour where staff from the Municipal Tourism Administration will guide you on a walk through the most legendary places in the center of the city. 

These free tours take place every Tuesday and Wednesday on two schedules. The first leaves at 9:00 a.m. and the other at 12:00 p.m., and Saturday there is only one, which departs at 9:00 a.m. The meeting place is at the offices of the Municipal Tourism Administration at the main square directly across from the Church of Guadalupe.
